St Vincent and the Grenadines - Getting Here

 

St. Vincent & the Grenadines are 32 islands and cays stretching from the main island of St. Vincent in the north to Grenada in the south. They form one nation and are truly blessed with some of the most beautiful scenery, friendliest people and largest variety of habitats in the Caribbean. Just 30 miles north of St Vincent is the island of St Lucia and 100 miles to the east lies Barbados.

St Vincent can be reached from all European, USA, Canadian and South American countries via one of the five Caribbean gateways: Barbados, Puerto Rico, St Lucia, Grenada or Trinidad. Barbados provides more daily connecting flights to St Vincent than other gateway airports.

American Air offer a thrice weekly flight to Canouan in the Southern Grenadines. St Vincent, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan and Union Island all have airports that are serviced by small charter flights provided by Grenadine Airways (www.grenadineairways.com)

When leaving St Vincent there is a departure tax of EC$40 per person (children up to 12 years are free).

Generally the easiest way to fly form North America or Europe is to take a flight to Barbados and then take a connecting flight to St VIncent from there. The following airlines provide a connecting service:

Mustique Air (www.mustique.com) and SVG Air (www.svgair.com) offer direct flights from Barbados to the southern Grenadines. Grenadine Airways provides flights from the southern Grenadines to St Vincent.

FERRY
A ferry service operates between Port Elizabeth, Bequia and Kingstown, St. Vincent. Sailing time jetty to jetty is about 1 hour. One way fares are EC$15 per person and EC$28 return. There are eight ferries a day during the week with the last ferry departing St VIncent at 6pm.
